Out & About : Checkers Cafe and Crazy Golf

Last week my daughter and I got invited to a birthday party at a lovely little place in Ballybunion called Checkers Cafe. The Cafe is located in Ballybunion Golf Holiday Homes only 1 km from the world famous Ballybunion Golf Club and 2 km from the vibrant bustling seaside town of Ballybunion.

The birthday party was great fun. The girls were taken upstairs where they would be baking cupcakes. They mixed their own ingredents and made the cupcakes. While they were baking, they went outside to play mini golf on the amazing 18 hole miniature version of Ballybunion’s world famous Old Course complete with well-known landmarks strategically placed around the course. You can read about the names and history of each hole.

Then they had food and got to play checkers on the gaint board and play on the playground. Once the cupcakes were cooled they went back up to the baking room and decorate the cupcakes with icing, fondant and sprinkles. Each child got to bring home 3 cupcakes.

If your ever in Ballybunion over the summer and looking for something to do, please consider this amazing place. Ypu can play golf or take one of their kids cookery courses. Just click the link and you'll get all the detail on the resort.

What are you favourite places to go over the summer holidays? Share them in the comments below. We're still looking for something to do before school starts.

"I'm bored" jar

It's been awhile since I've blogged. We've been busy enjoying the summer holidays and the beautiful weather we've been having. But lately, I've been hearing a lot of the same thing from my daughter. And I'm pretty sure every mom in the world over hears this too at some point. Do you know what I'm talking about?

"Mom, I'm Bored."

This is the most confusing thing to me. My kids have everything they could ever want to keep them entertained for years but they still came in telling me there bored.
So, In an attempt to beat the boredom and stop the nagging and fussing I decided to make a "I'm bored" jar.

It's so easy. All you need is a jar and some paper and I didn't have to try think of all the ideas myself. I found this link on another blog on pinterest and she has some very good ideas. With some of these and some of my own thrown in, I'm sure that we'll never have a problem again with being bored.

Some are chores and some are things that they have to do with a parent.
The rule is that you get to pick one activity. If you don't like it, you get to swap it for something else. Whatever you get the second time, is what you get.

Do you have any ideas to add to the list?
Be sure and let me know in the comments section so i can add them to my jar.

Thanks for stopping by.

DIY Water Bombs : A Cheap & Fun DIY

I'm loving the Summer right now.
The Sun in actually shining here.
It doesn't happen too often here.
We normally have coats on in Summer because of the rain.

But this summer has broken records.
We've been having temperatures up in the 30's.
They kids have been outside as much as they can but the heat has been getting to them.

What's a sure fired way to cool down in the heat?

Water Fights!!

I love a good water fight but I don't like the clean up.
I also don't think Mr P would appreciate being whacked with a water balloon.
After a quick search on pinterest I found these.

<Water bombs>< My country girl ramblings>

I bought a pack of sponges in Tesco for €1.55.
Cut each sponge in half and then cut each half into about 9 strips.
Tie 6 strips together with string or a small cable tie.
You done.
Go outside and have some fun with the kids.
I got 9 bombs out of 1 pack of sponges.

We had great fun with these.
We ended up not throwing them because our aim sucked.
So instead we just splashed each other by shaking the bombs at each other.

I hope you have as much fun with these as we did.
Defiantly the best money I've spent in a long time.

Thanks for stopping by.

10 on Tuesday : A bit of a catch-up

I kind of slacked off on the blog last week. But if I'm being honest. I don't care. The sun was shining and I was out in it every day. I barely look at a computer all week and I only popped in now and then to the social media world. But the sun is gone and I'm back.

Speaking of the sun. We got up to so much. Took a unplanned trip back to the beach last Tuesday. It was P man's first time at the beach and he loved it. I really hope the sun comes back again so we can go back.

We had a birthday party at Jasmin's friends house. Pirate Jack was he entertainer. He was amazing. Face painting, Balloon animals, Dancing, Games and Tattoos. He really too the hard work out of the party. I might just have to look into getting an entertainer for the next big birthday in our house.

Hello Kitty!

We pulled out the pool the weekend and let the kids play in it. And when I say pool, I mean tiny pick blow up pool. But it could have been a bucket of water and these two would have been happy. Please come back  Mr Sun.

If your wondering what all that stuff in the background is, well let me tell you. My amazingly crafty Husband put up a new post and panel wall at my mothers house. She has the most amazing son-in-law, hands down. He also built a fab gate for her so the too wilds won't go wandering onto the road.

Jasmin had her first school sports day. She didn't win anything but said it didn't matter cos she had fun. So proud of this little one for know that having fun is more important. Next year were going to win the spud and spoon race.

She also had her first school tour. This little poser got to go to Lee Strand milk factory and see how milk gets put into cartons. For some reason she was very excited about it and had a fantastic day. She got a mug, key ring and a activity book in a goodie bag too. No tears or anything. Slow down little girl. Your growing up too fast.

I started Jillian Micheals 30 day shred on Monday. It is tough. But I excited to see what changes and results I get from it. I want to be able to workout at home. I spend enough time away from home and driving to this and that. Working out is not another thing I'm going adding to that list.

The garden is coming or well. the sun really helped it. The weeds and grass are doing very very well. Ha! I can't wait to have some spud and cabbage from here. There is nothing like new potatoes. I'm not sure the peas will make the kitchen but they taste so good out of the pod.

I finally got the P man's bedroom done. Thanks to moneysupermarket.com and their room for improvement challange i got it done. You can read all about it here.

Wow, We really got up to a lot over the past 2 weeks. I try not to be so MIA if the sun come back but I can't make any promises. Ha!

Thanks for stopping by.

First day of Summer!

Yesterday was the first day of Summer and Mother Nature didn't disappoint.
This little guy got to go outside in his first pair of big boy shoes and he had a blast.

He got to play with his big sister. How cute is this? My heart was melting!

This is her "I'm a cool big girl" look.

Nana Got a little more than she bargained for when she tried to get P to pose for a photo. That boy just hates the camera. This was the best I could get.

Remember how I said P like his food. Well he thought he'd try to eat some stones too. He didn't like them too much though.

I just hope the we get the summer that we're promised because 3 months of rain and kids stuck inside and I'll be in the mad house.

Go outside with your kids and enjoy the weather. Those dishes will be fine until later.
